Fabiflu(Glenmark) in corona treatment

#Fabiflu (Glenmark), #Covifor (Hetero) and #Cipremi (Cipla) the 3 drugs for the treatment of COVID 19: Will they bring any respite to the #COVID 19 patients in India? Normal treatment cost of Rs 50,000-1 lakh has now surged to Rs 1-2 lakh for Covid-19 treatment (due to increase in cost of consumables, patient distancing in hospitals, etc.) and to Rs 6-7 lakh or more where co-morbidities are involved or treated in expensive hospitals. Now the recent success with the new drug approvals, a 5-day coronavirus treatment with generic Remdesivir to cost Rs 30,000 as announced by Hetero. On the other hand, Fabiflu stands at Rs. 3500 for a 34 tablet strip and total treatment of 14 days will require122 tabs (approx. Rs 12,500). Cipla is yet to disclose the price of its version (Cipremi). Zydus Cadila, Mylan and DRL are other firms with licences from Gilead and are awaiting DCGI nod to start supplies in India. BDR Pharma has also submitted application to DCGI to make and sell Remdesivir in India. How this will lead to more benefit the non-insured population is still something one needs to wait and watch for.
